Workplace Dynamics
“ These young people – all they
know how to do is to work as fast and carelessly as possible.
They take no pride in their work.”
“I saw John coming out of the bathroom
and it reeked of marijuana when I went in. What are you going
to do about it?”
“I can’t believe our CEO had a heart
attack and died. None of us feels like working and it’s
been a month.”
Organizations are not an entity – it’s
the people and how they function that make an organization healthy.
If the workplace environment is mired with workers who do not
get along, are depressed, are abusing drugs or who are potentially
violent, no one can function at an optimal level. These problems
have a way of permeating the entire workplace culture and, if
left unchecked, can lead to problems that seriously threaten safety,
security and morale.
Wellness at Work recognizes that
sometimes an organization does not know how to attend to these
true “workplace viruses” and can offer management
a platform of interventions that can renew loyalty and employee
satisfaction. The demonstration that the organization is willing
to recognize these types of problems and be supportive of their
resolution can be the best medicine.
